Big Sky debate is proud to announce the seventh year of our summer institute, featuring topic focused education for both Policy, Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum debate. The Big Sky Debate Institute blends strong instruction with a fun atmosphere--students should leave with a much better sense about debate strategy, developed and researched positions, as well as some new friends.

We've had a great response to the camp this year, and look forward to all the students attending. 

Come join us this summer!

• Dates : The Big Sky Debate Institute will start on Saturday, August 2nd and will end on August 9th. A more detailed schedule will be forthcoming.

• Location : The entire camp will take place at the University of Montana-Western, in Dillon Montana. Participants will also stay on campus in a supervised student dorm.

• Staff : Our staff is comprised of the most experienced and successful debate coaches in the area. Students can expect a low staff-student ration, individualized instruction, and attention.

• Costs : Our camp is one of the best values you will find, regionally or nationally. Our full tuition (room, board, instruction, copies) is only $500. Commuters pay $225.

What's at the BSDI this year?

• New Public Forum workshops!  Montana has added Public Forum debate at the AA level.  We will offer our first public forum workshop this summer focusing on core skills, debate research and topic analysis.

   

• Advanced Policy Series : Students who have previously attended the camp or shown demonstrated success will benefit from our new advanced lecture series on policy debate. We will discuss positions in more depth and push the students to discover more.

• Pre-Institute Evidence Packet. To maximize our time spent on debate practice, students will receive a packet of information before they arrive at camp: a full case, extensions, and off-case negatives.

• Camp for a Season . Unlike other institutes, the instruction at the BSDI doesn't end after one week. We will be available all season for assistance, information, or even one of our great jokes.
