The National Forensics League has released the April, 2007 for Public Forum:

Resolved: United States corporations should honor all prior commitments to employee pensions.

Our staff has started digging into this issue and wanted to provide some of our initial thoughts:

  • Although our mind has been changed in the past with other topics, this topic appears to be one of the half-dozen or so topics that is heavily biased in one direction in the popular media.  Our initial research has uncovered a number of horror stories of blue-collar workers losing their pensions in bankruptcies or other business disasters when CEOs leave sinking ship corporations.
  • Some of the con research comes from those critical of any guarenteed pension in favor of private investment accounts.
  • There are plenty of current situations to refer to in the mainstream media!

Our research is ongoing.  We will release an index of our book when it is complete.  Our assumption is that those are still debating will use this topic at the NFL district qualifier or state tournament.  Good luck!

Rememeber, our $12 public forum book on consumer credit is available for March debates.  Compare our product, we think you will agree that it is the best-research book in the nation!
